This is from the man who climbs Mount Pinatubo. You are not ethic Philipino (is that OK to say?) but you live there, so you can write about it. Think of yourself as an anthropologist. You can write about it better than the natives because you have distance, you aren't a part of it. I am not from New Orleans, either, but I adopted it. I wish I could send you a copy of "Gumbo YaYa," but if I did would you even appreciate it? It was written by the writers of the WPA during the depression, about Louisiana and New Orleans, and it is priceless. Not like "oh, the precious thing, it's so priceless," like a periscope peering into a past that will never be completely lost. A time machine.

I used to have a little publishing company, reprinting nineteenth century historical pieces about New Orleans. You could probably make some money on the type of thing I am talking about, if you got the tone right.
