Why is everyone hoping for a spilt ? They just split in Jan !

Someone check my facts, but I believe they announced their split when the stock was around $75, and AFTER it split it was above $100. So if they were willing to split the stock at $75, they'll certainly split at $150.

Granted, I'm using stock price as the sole determinant of whether to split, which isn't the whole story -- it's also outstanding shares and whether there are so few that liquidity is compromised. At the moment there are 46 million CMGI shares, but I don't know how many are actually available for trading.

Today's chart is absolutely gorgeous:

quote.yahoo.com

Note the huge spikes in volume accompanying the sharp upward moves, and the strong close in the last hour. It's safe to expect a big gap up Monday, possibly over the all-time high!

Happy, it would be ambitious for cmgi to split again so soon, but the company has attracted much institutional interest during the Robbie Stevens internet conference. For institutions to take cmgi as a serious investment, the float has to increase significantly. While no one knows exactly when cmgi will split again, my sense is that the company will make an announcement sooner rather than later. Just can't see David Weatherall drumming up all that investment interest and then not have enough float to take advantage of it.

Long cmgi since its prior two splits.

>> COmpanies don't split every quarter y'know ! <<

There are a few that might do just that for a while to come.
