The irony of it all is that it was individual traders who gave rise to the mutual fund industry. You used to call Merrill and buy 100 shares of IBM. But a lot of people lost a lot of money and so they chose mutual funds instead. Now we have come a full circle. It is amazing how many "traders" are out there.

You are right. That many people have quit their jobs to be full time traders and that several popular publications as well as TV channels have done "in depth" reports on day trading on the internet may be a sign of the top (kind of like the picture of the Bull on Business week last summer).
