Good morning, Jeffie! I have a sad story to tell which I'm writing to you because soon you will be here. It will make you sigh with pity for poor penni, probably even bring tears of sympathy to your eyes, and a pang of dread to your heart because you too will have empty nest in a few years. DAn has been out of town all week- DC and NY- and the kids have been busy with their lives. On Wed I left 20.00 for pizza becuase I left for choir before they got home and never even saw them. So yesterday I decided we would have a nice family dinner and made a London Broil, and baked potatoes and a wonderful mixed green salad with balsamic dressing and even baked a cinnamon bread. At 6:30 CW got home from work and said he had a date and had to leave; I picked up Ammo from play practice at 7 and he announced that he had to go make signs to vote for the natatorium bond election today and he wasn't hungry anyway thanks. THen Dan called and said he was sorry but he had to work late because he was behind from being gone. So there I sat with three pounds of rare London Broil and five baked potatoes and two cats for company. Filled my plate, got a glass of wine, and watched Ghost on TV, chewing on the beef, which was a little tough, and sobbing; that's SUCH a great movie. Too bad you guys don't live closer. It was a really nice roast. CW left early this morning to run in a 5K, Ammo has to put up signs and lobby people in front of the voting place, then we fly down to Houston to look at Rice where CW is accepted but he has never seen. At least I'm included in that trip. (Bid for more sympathy) U of R is flying him to Va. in a couple of weeks to interview for their Honors scholarship; I said, Oh I can go! It is after all my Alma MAter and I have tons of friends still there, like Rin, my roomie. And CW said, "Mom, I think I'd like to do this on my own." (I know now you MUST have tears in your eyes for me) Insult to injury: I think I've caught CW's pinkeye.
