I think most gold owning Americans would simply be right to refuse to forfeit their holdings. And I think the government would be foolish to insist.

It is the sort of thing which may have worked sixty years ago, on a gullible, economically naive society, but not today. It wouldn't carry a second time. Fool me once, etc.
