re: Double-helx.net. Perhaps it is a metaphor from Anne Rice's "Witching Hour" series. If two witches (rather, a witch and a warlock) mate and they each have the double-helix chromosone, the result is a Taltos with a gestation period of a few weeks. When born, the Taltos grows to full height (seven feet or more) within minutes. Sounds like Dell to me.

<--OT--> Wireless+digital,the next big thing?

Greg:
Speaking of broadband being the next big thing,I heard the impending G3 technology and (even CDMA) is going to be 'big'.They say notebook Pcs soon shouldn't have to rely on phone jacks to get on the internet as the direction points clearly to wireless technology,digital too,talk about convenience at lightening speed. Come to think of it I like my Sprint PCS phone,digital,clear,compact and I love it.Analog is on its way out most likely.

Also there is talk that pretty soon the desktop PCs will be passe and even may become extinct as notebook PCs become as powerful as the desk top,no need to clutter the space.In other words as soon as notebooks becomes as powerful why bother with the bulky desktops.I don't how soon or anything.You heard anything?

May be the engineers among us could weigh in here and enlighten us on the subject.
