Mike, I remember the hype of breaking 1000 on the Dow in 1973. I think it only crossed 1000 for a short time, hours or a day of two. It was followed by a rough bear market until 1982. Many Nasdaq and growth stocks went down 90%, most never recovering.

Given that, it may prove profitable to buy puts on Monday morning. Any in particular you are considering ? what do you think of puts on cdwc or circuit city ?

I like your contrarian view on whether 10k will be realized with so many people calling for it.

After watching the DJIA sloshing back and forth all day today, I could not help having this sitcom episode in my head -g-:

A DJ mother has been pregnant for 17 years with this 10k baby. After a few signals last week, she felt she was definitely going into labor. As she is moved into the OR, Alan G. and Bob R. were pacing outside the OR anxiously, mainly because both of them are waiting to confirm who can claim fatherhood to this baby.

In the meantime, all the relatives, including wall street ANAL-ysts and the whole bubble vision team are preparing to throw a big party. A few of them, who are deeply concerned about the sloppy manner NYSE is handling this emergency, have threatened to call in a cyber doctor to do a C-section. The rumor has promptly sent the Internet sector into an organism, where they are expecting another quarter (2.5k) kid at the other hospital, NASCARP.

Uh, the suspense continues. If they only know the kinds of trouble this kid is bringing to them, maybe they will not feel this exuberant about it, will they? -g-
