You have to write what sells, I understand that. Still, the type of thing I envision could possibly be sold to a travel magazine, or to something like Smithsonian. I have no idea what magazines pay, I have no idea what type of writing pays best, either. (I understand that Stephen King and Elmore Leonard and Tom Clancey and John Grisham are rather well-to-do, but that's the limit of my knowledge).
