Interesting theory. By this I guess you mean that IOM has no hope of falling below $3.50. But IOM's fundamentals are pointing to a price much lower than this.

But even so, your $2 limit still means a 35% profit for short sellers at this level. Thank you for your IOM price prediction. I guess even the Iomega Bulls admit that this is a good Short candidate.

IMHO, Iomega is approaching a very important inflection point in it's business plan.

Should they license disks production instead of just the drives?

Now that they will be enjoying increased rev and profit on Zip 250 Jaz 1 and 2 carts as well as the new products to be announced and eventually at, the end of the year, clik. Why not give fuji and maxell and sony and IBM a peice of the pie and they'll flood the market with Zip disk of different makes, make it a standard and they can share in the profit also to some extant.
IOM would be wise to consider the dangers of dismissing this idea without researching it........it looks less like a monopoly with lots of Zip disks makers.

Sony eventually lincensed out the floppy tech and gained a sustained stream of profits..........of course they invested these profits terribly........it does however create a revenue stream that can drop directly, if the company chooses, to the bottom line eps.,it will also increase cash flow, which right now I believe to be more important than actual earnings.

Scott Flaig mentioned they are still a year and a half away from completing their virtual enterprise model..........this will only result in expense savings.....whether they drop to the bottom line or used in other product areas is the unknown......in a business its your return on cash that counts. If the spend their savings WISELY whether in R&D or SG&A. or M&A.....IT WILL BE A GOOD INVESTMENT.

I believe that IOM has set it's goal to become THE STORAGE COMPANY, whether it be removalable media or modular drives or miniture clik disks DVD/Zip/CD-R/CD-RW/Jaz/new single platter/ the new 10 gig optical mentioned.

BTW I am not suggesting that IOM stop producing they disks themselves also.

Kinda Reminds me of Apple in the late 80s and early 90s.......you saw what happened to them..... the similarities are many.....they also controlled their market early on, but decided not to licence like IBM did.

Does anyone else have an opinion on IOM licensing out Zip100 Disks (only) . to create a royalty stream and give the potentially dangerous oems like Sony, Fuji, Maxell, IBM essentially a fee to make your disks and make them available widespread and therefore your drive a defacto standard........Anyone?

Disks may stimulate drive sales and drive sales further stimulate disk sales

Invest in businesses not stocks,

Frank

The question?
Should they Lincense out production of Zip 100 (only) disks?

That's what I think is so funny. Gee, it must really be a rush making a big 2-3 points in three months shorting Iomega. Much better than shorting AMAT and getting 15 in two days or shorting Dell and getting it overnight.

When I see this kind of apathy and hopelessness and people singing the praises of Rocky, can the bottom for this move be far away?

P.S. Rocky, please don't bother responding. I do not read your junk anymore. I've seen better reasoning in comic books.

P.S. For anyone looking for a decent medium term trade these days, GM has a very nice chart going.
