MHO --- Intel's pain in the ass --- isn't AMD

it is Microsoft.

MSFT's slowly adopting MMX, parallel execution. Also not much uP power consumption in the newer version of Windows (only cosmetic improvement?)

buggy OS and some politics (my netscape frozen on Windows95 8 out of 10 times) make intel's efforts on quality and reliability no value. (AMD system may be frozen because of voltage spike)

That's why INTC is promoting Linux. It may not be successful though.

Just my opinion.

I checked out Dell. They don't have any writeable CD but at $2499 they include 19" moniter. At $2899 they include built in 100 MB Zip and TVout on the DVD. I've been waiting for cable modem or DSL to come to my neighborhood before stepping up but I'm getting real tempted to just go for it.
