MHO --- Intel's pain in the ass --- isn't AMD it is Microsoft. MSFT's slowly adopting MMX, parallel execution. Also not much uP power consumption in the newer version of Windows (only cosmetic improvement?) buggy OS and some politics (my netscape frozen on Windows95 8 out of 10 times) make intel's efforts on quality and reliability no value. (AMD system may be frozen because of voltage spike) That's why INTC is promoting Linux. It may not be successful though. Just my opinion.
