You know boats; I can ask you this question. I was given a boat today - not really, but practically; the guy who owns it is in town about one weekend every two months and rarely drives it even then, and says if I keep the boat in shape it's basically mine. 16 foot runabout, 85hp outboard, not a bad little rig all in all. Only problem is that the only thing I know about outboards is that if one conks out in the middle of the bay I'm in deep poop. I gather that the fuel feed system on this particular boat is a little tricky as well.

First and most obvious course will be to find somebody who knows about these things and get some serious instruction, and I'll be doing that anyway, but I thought you might have some general hints to pass on.
