My we are paranoid aren't we... Yes there are evil people in the world. The percentage of evil to good people can be debated, but I feel that most are not. Anything can be abused and anything that can be abused will be abused by some. Guns can be used for hobby or protection and guns can be used for robberies and murder. Drugs can be used to heal, drugs can be abused and caused addiction. Yes there are a very small number of programmers who may be abusive. Most are not. You assume because I am a programmer, I am abusive. You assume because the le cafe site uses cookies, they abuse them. Being on one's guard is prudent. Living in paranoia and fear and seeing evil around every corner would not be a productive way to spend one's life in my opinion. However, if it makes you happy fear on... To each their own. Watch out for the boogyman.
