If I were in your area, I'd hit I-5 north to Irvine:

buy.com Listed under "Nine" near bottom. See "company info > location" for a map.

Dvorak is close but not correct, the SGI works fine with MS Word, just zoom your page, why mess with fonts ??

Resolutions of 800x600 and below are hardware zoomed.

Comes with neato Hawkeye software to make cursors bigger or more colorful, you can also run a virtual desktop two screens wide (or tall, or both) that pan and scan when cursor hits edge of screen, no performance hit either !

Interesting bits:

OMGA - I've been doing a little reading today. Noticed one point in the last 10Q which says that all their products will continue to ship with their present dating scheme which is not fully Y2K compliant. Their projection for shipping Y2K compliant products is June 1999 (and we all know that projects are always done on time and under budget). I suspect that the lack of Y2K readiness is partly the cause for their slow sales. This current road show and national advertising campaign has got to cost them a bundle. The last 10Q showed a high level of Sales expenses. This next one ought to be through the roof. Wait until all the seminar attendees find out they have to spend $2400 for the flagship product and it's not yet Y2K ready!

Re: Flat Screen Displays

I have to agree with Jay on the SGI/Number Nine combo. SGI's road show came to my work and had them on display. We just ordered 4 SGI NT Visual Workstations with the flat screens.

Not quite as big as you mentioned you needed but their resolution is so much better than the current generation of flat screens that they seem bigger. You can also put two cards in on machine and have a huge virtual screen (drag windows from one monitor to the other).

You've got to use the Number Nine card with it, though (the rest of the industry uses a different interconnect standard). Also, the card comes in either PCI or AGP versions (the kind of slot it goes in).

Best,
