Re:AMD warned of a loss for Q1

Elmer,

Once again I will post this link for the comprehension impaired. AMD warned "it may incur a operating loss" for Q1. Why can't the Intelabes on this thread comprehend that this is not the same as saying "there will be a loss".

How can you speculate that they are scrapping a lot of wafers? From the last CC, the wafers start will not dramatically increase till Dresden starts coming online. Obviously that has not happened yet. The fact that they have BTB above unity amid declining (or maintaining at best) ASP should mean they have improved yields. Also I am not so sure about "material 350Mhz and below is almost a write off at this point", They are sill getting around $75 for those 350Mhz which should result in gross profit margins. Not a write off by any stretch of imagination. Also AMD warned of a POTENTIAL loss for Q1. That leaves a possibility of break even or slightly positive earning. I don't think any one really knows at this point.
