My best ever was an eagle on the 18th. (Par 5)

The best about it was that there was a wedding reception being held at the club house, which the terrace has a perfect view of the 18th. green. The bride & groom were just arriving, and so there was a sizable crowd looking towards the green.

My drive had been a respectable 280 yard plus, my second shot was long but a bit to the right which put me in trouble as there were a couple of pine trees, plus a gigantic willow... all in the way.

So my best shot was to use a 4 iron for a low shot and simply punch it out of trouble and hopefully it would land on the green so I would still be in regulation for a par.

As I considered my chances, the crowd became aware and began looking more intently... so I did my best shot with the 4 iron that I could.

The ball was perfect as it came out low clearing the willow branches and safely away from the pine trees, it bounced just outside the green, and careered up to the middle, towards the hole. At this point I knew I had a good stroke and quite possibly a birdie, depending on where the ball would stop. And in my mind the par was a sure thing.

As I am watching the ball, it begins to look going on a straight course directly towards the cup... and to my surprise it sinks in....

The best of the entire thing was the crowd seeing the shot going in, started applauding and cheering.....

As I went to pick the ball, I could not hold my smile which it was a wide one, as a greeted the applauding crowd....

Many times I have been in the same spot, before and after this one time, and never have I been even close to it.

And no, I have never had had a hole-in-one...

But I am trying. My best has been hitting an 8 iron, bouncing just in front of the cup and hitting the flag, the ball landing a few inches away.... for a birdie.

Your father I am sure will make at least another 5 or more Aces yet!
