Safely assuming your PC and the CNC/router rig are not in the same room

No..right next to each other. I set up an old computer for testing. The machine should be attended while in operation. I will attach a shop vac hose near the router head to catch dust.

I may set up a computer in another room and a remote keyboard and monitor next to the machine. Cable lengths may become an issue if I setup the machine in another room. I have run 12 ft +/- keyboard and monitor cables in other situations. Video degrades in long runs. I do not know how far I can run a serial cable.

I recall Dave mentioned he had some experience with dual keyboards and the like..perhaps I just need an AB switch or three.

So far operating the machine is an extension of computer skills..you just have to be careful..the robot could get out of hand..Windows sometimes has a mind of its own <g>

It sounds like bag pipes when it is cutting detail..so far just cutting in air as I have not turned on the router yet. The stepper motors seem to have a series of resonant frequencies...four motors running at the same time.
