A friend has problem when he installed Diamond Viper 550 16mb AGP video card. He replaced a Matrox Millenium II Powerdesk 8mb AGP. Desktop is Pentium II 300 Mhz CPU on P6L4A motherboard. When he first replaced the Matrox with Viper, everything ran fine for two months. Then he downloaded and installed a driver upgrade for the Viper card, and everything seem to work real good for a couple of weeks (30 hours per week). One day when he had finished using the computer for the day he shutdown the computer normally. The next day when he turned the computer on, all sorts of strange colors(garbage) appeared on the display screen. Since then he has not been able to get the Viper card to work. Talking to Diamond's technical help people produced no solution and they blame the motherboard and/or memory chips. When he reinstalled the Matrox card the system would operate OK again.

Anybody know if this is common problem with the Viper?, or is it the motherboard?

Thanks for your help.

To Any and All: help with cable modem....

I just got a new computer:

ABIT BH6 motherboard
PentII 350
128 MB SDRAM

Have 3 ATI Xpert 98 PCI cards installed with 3 various monitors.

Running Win98 O/S - and all monitors are up and running

Yesterday I had ATHOME cable modem connected using ISA ethernet card

Problem: Computer locks up whenever I go to any internet site

What could be causing this? A hardware conflict?
Configuration problem? IRQ settings?

Tried reinstalling @home and no success. Tried @home tech support and
they had no advice to give and said should be working fine.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
