To All, Portfolio notes and ramblings: 1. Intel's deal with the govt. bothers me. If they got a significant fine, and I suspect they did, they will undoubtedly use it to wrap into a one-time write-off to hide the horrible results this quarter. Since investors are too dumb to notice when they throw operating costs into these one-time writeoffs, they may accidentally "make" their quarter. They will certainly self-destruct by the July report, but they may have found a way to fake April. I wish I knew the size of the fine, if there even in one. It would make a difference whether I buy puts now or wait until the eps fantasy.

2. Intel's deal with the FTC may also change the perception, temporarily, on Rambus. This chip is, IMHO, dead on arrival, a worthy successor to Burst Edo. But many may now feel that Intel will be free to try to bully firms into backing this overpriced POS. So, another stock I hate where I am taking no action.

3. I have sold all my Japanese Webs, EWJ. I made a little on the first third and extremely nice returns on the other two thirds. Overall, it was a 23% winner with an avg. holding period of 7 months. No Internet stock, but this is a whole country and I'm happy with that. <g>

4. The oils are running, especially the two I just bought, UCL and BR.

5. The precious metal are moving again, though I don't see much happening in my last third of Impala.
