Stein Roe Fund Manager: Strong Profits Will Fuel Mkt
Rally

Dow Jones Newswires

NEW YORK -- Strengthening corporate profits will drive the stock market to record highs,
according to Dave Brady, co-manager of Stein Roe Young Investor Fund.

"I think we saw profits begin to accelerate in the last quarter of '98 and we'll see profits continue to
accelerate throughout the year," he told CNBC Monday. "Sometime before midsummer we'll see
Dow 10000."

Brady said he likes the technology sector, including Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) and Sun
Microsystems Inc. (SUNW).

His stock picks also include McDonald's Corp. (MCD), Outdoor Systems Inc. (OSI) and Mattel
Inc. (MAT).

THREAD.....would someone PLEASE either explain to me the significance of the aol, netscape, sunw alliance OR tell me where to go (gg) to get the info.....I am NOT a techie BUT I did buy sunw starting in the mid 50's so I guess I am not as dumb as I sound.

How does orcl fit into this picture....I own some orcl also....TIA

We did MUCH better than msft today but I don't see how that is relevant......I was talking to a friend who works for the Hunter Group, he is a software consultant....he said that corporations are moving towards thin client......I assume this is big for sunw...am I on the right track???

If corp. are moving towards thin client than what happens to companies like Dell??

TIA....again.

p.s. hate to keep bothering Sonki with these dumb questions....she has helped me so much....just thought I would bother someone else for a change.
