Scumbria:

The worlds best baseball players hit the ball about 1/3 of the time. AMD is batting over .500 for the past year.

I see too many "errors".

We already knew they'd post a loss. Maybe they're just writing off this quarter and staging for the next by:

1) Getting production of the K7 rolling earlier than expected (eating up capacity).

2) Devoting more fab space to K6-3 production. Earlier and more accelerated ramp of the K6-3 would actually cause units shipped to fall because of larger die size/lower yield. We'll know if this is the case if ASPs don't completely tank this quarter.

scum and all--

CNBC reports the traders are saying this is old news.

duh.

now, on this baseball analogy...dont use it, PLEASE!!! a missed baseball is a missed baseball. people dont lose jobs and investors dont lose money. a bad die shrink screws everything up. i guess the bottom line is that a missed ball is the same as any other missed ball, while some of AMDs mistakes have been MUCH larger.

good luck to all,
trey

SCUMbria - Re: ". AMD is batting over .500 for the past year. "

Actually AMD is about .500 since January - that is, .5x January 13's price !

AMD just loves to have these "stealth" stock splits !
