Pat Buchanan made a nasty comment on this subject once, so maybe it is the moderate conservatives that feel this way. Buchanan feels that importing a workforce will ensure the demise of republicans - meaning he assumes they will remain in the lower economic classes (that was the implication).

static pie has to be cut smaller and redistributed to more mouths<<

Tell me about it! We know differently. When I was in LA a couple of weeks ago, there was this video store owner in "Little Saigon" that put up a picture of Ho Chi Minh and the communist Vietnamese flag. You wouldn't believe the amount of protest that was going on by the Vietnamese immigrants! These people were livid over the idea that some guy could come over here, start up a business, then promote a failed, repressive system using the very freedoms he would be denied at home. From what I could understand by the comments of the protestors, they were so happy to be in a country where they could live freely and have economic prosperity, that they actually wanted to deprive the guy of his 1st amendment rights. This went on for the whole 2 weeks I was there, they were out there everyday protesting.

I don't know how it eventually resolved itself, when I left the building owners were trying to evict the guy for nonpayment of rent or inadequate liability insurance. I guess business was bad. <vbg>
