Gary, you had better do a bit of homework on this one before you are embarrassed. Over a multi-year period, DEC systematically sold off darned near everything that was a problem well before CPQ came along. It was sitting on a ton of cash,....where do you think this came from?

When CPQ first acquired DEC, the writedown was announced as $1.5 billion. I was stunned by that and called the company for an explanation. None was provided. Later, it was jacked up to $5.0 billion.

By the way, also check out CPQ's own internal lay-offs that were announced well before the acquisition.

That writedown is as bogus as a three dollar bill. You are "fishing without bait" on this one.
