Sultan/HSG/Ian/HSlayer:

From early this morning:
Hypercom Corp. (HYC) 9 3/4: SG Cowen downgrades manufacturer and supplier of comprehensive point-of-sale payment systems from "strong buy" to "buy" as company pre-announces fiscal Q3 shortfall; lowers FY99 EPS estimate from $0.75 to $0.33 and FY00 EPS estimate from $0.92 to $0.50 a share.....

Its now in the $5's - trading at 16X cur year eps (ending june30) and 10x fy 2000.

Re CMIV, based on Zacks estimate of .53 for fy 99 (dec 31/99) trades at approx 10x current year earnings. Based on a WAG (wild a** guess) for FY 2000 say .75, CMIV trades at 7x earnings. (maybe the price to pay re lack of visibility?)

IMO, even though HYC looks like a bargain, CMIV may be the better value. If they can realize synergies and execute strategy according to plan, maybe a surprise to the upside? And dont forget Ingenico either either buyout or increased sales re leverage.

FWIW

Does Verifone still exist and trade on its own? I can't find the symbol. Or is it now a division of HP? Thanks.
