MB - (What amazes me is that IDC had the gall to say they expected pc unit sales to be up 14% in Q1. What planet are they from? <g>)

From a technical POV, the bigger the disaster in Q1CY98, the better the chance of yr/yr growth in Q1CY99. If there were 7 units sold in Q1CY98, then only 8 units will be needed to meet the 14% number.

Another interpretation would be - " This quarter will only be a moderate disaster, compared to last year". -g-

Regards, Don

Yup, I guess that is the way you figure it. When IDC numbers agree with you you cite them to make your point and when they don't you trash them. Hmmmm, several decades ago they called that cognitive dissonance, don't know what they call it these days. Cheers!

To All, My recent income plays in the oil patch are now unwound. I took off UCL and BR buy writes at huge annualized profits, though muted absolute results. Which is the game in income. Now, the problem is, how do I explain to my partners that these dandy performing trades didn't make it to the partnership account. I don't do buy/writes there, where I have flexibility to do bull and bear credit spreads. Those spreads are beating everything else in the income universe, but are not beating my buy writes. Hung by my own rope. <G> Maybe I will show them the last Dell spread conversion where I made almost nothing. Or the CCU spread conversion where the stock is up $16 and I've made about $150 a share. Dell and IBM are not the only ones who can use misdirects. <g>

Well, now, since IDC's predictions are essentially forecasts (like the weather), one will have to take into account any unusual butterfly flapping.
