Re: "The K7 is in production. Last year it was ready for production. So what's the big deal?"

Jim, having worked on many products (some whose names you would readily recognize) I have a very different perspective on what "ready for production means". For a company that is in a death spiral any netlist is ready for production. I can tell you straight out, in my opinion AMD has not had enough time to validate this design. Were AMD not announcing continued losses, layoffs, yield problems, facing severe price erosion and basically using their mastercard to pay their visa, I might pay more attention to their claims, but desperate times call for desperate measures and I think it much more likely that AMD is doing what Jerry has always done. Feed you what you want to believe. This K7 hype is exactly what we heard about the K6, virtually word for word. You've heard the saying, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. You've been fooled a lot more than twice. There is a chance the K7 could be everything AMD claims. You can believe it if you chose, I don't.

Re: "I might also remind you that I don't have a position in AMD while you and Paul are long."

I believe Paul is now out any long position and he is still short puts. I am short puts and long a few shares I bought from the premium I got last month writing covered calls on my Intel shares.

Jim,

Any guesses on whether the Cebit demo will be a single processor demo, or if they will show a SMP system?

Thanks,
Pravin.
