Several springs ago I set up a photo blind at my back door
and used sunflower and other seeds to attract birds and squirrels.
I was looking thru the telephoto lens when a bill-less bluejay
appeared at the feeding spot. It appeared to be able to
lap up the smaller seeds with its tongue. Got an interesting
but spooky profile photo of the disabled bird.

Anyone out there grow butterfly plants? They are rather tall, spindly lilac-looking things, and the butterflies and hummers love them. I saw some really odd creatures out by ours this past summer.

They are perennials, too.

I did have a huge sunflower growing on my patio one year, that may have been what brought them around.
