That is an amusing comment, but the idea that the majority of stocks may have reasonable valuations is a good one. According to my Zacks data, the S&P trailing multiple is 28.6. If you exclude just 10 high-priced stocks, the multiple falls almost 3 points to 25.7. The median for all 500 is 21.1, and the median for the largest 3000 stocks is just 17.7. This all may not mean much in the short run, but it seems to me to make a strong long-term case for buying some small caps.
