Kelvin,

You got it all wrong. She said THQ was one of the best run interactive entertainment companies and that she thought these companies would be able to protect profits in Internet gaming.

If I have a chance, I will give a sh!t to that "analyst". Slow Season??? Didn't she realize that THQI estimate EPS on the slow season is higher than MSFT, CSCO, DELL? I am not comparing THQ to the internet stocks but to the proven High-Tech titans!

Second Quarter
THQ - 0.32, $20 (eEPS, current price)
DELL - 0.17, $41.75 ...isn't it beautiful?
CSCO - 0.40, $103.125
MSFT - 0.66, $159.38

THQ's eEPS is 4x more than DELL, CSCO and MSFT in slow season!!!

Oh, don't forget, THQ tends to beat the estimate EPS.

Kelvin, I did not see the broadcast; but I believe THQI will have to branch into interactive games too retain a market share and hold/increase products long term. If you look at Click-To-Play and other internet providers branching out it becomes obvious that status quo won't be enough to hold market share in the future. I see THQI either forming their own sub. or joining forces with a specialist provider. Market share is a key for determining company value and share price. THQI must seek to retain what they have earned and expand into new markets or they will face tough times down the line.

Sincerely,
Roy

Oh that's ridiculous. (Almost as ridiculous as that half point closing spread yesterday.) How can one say that THQ can't have big price appreciation this spring when last year it went from the seventeens in March to the thirty-threes in April?

Most free internet games are on the order of bridge and chess. Everyone that wants to play Quake online for free has to buy the game first. The demo won't get you online. I'm going to buy one or two games this year. Quake III and possibly Future Cop. Both for online play, mostly. Now that I have the cable modem, online play is smoother than ever. And of course, playing humans is much, much better than playing against AI.

This analyst also ignores the fact that THQ's main business line is the console market. Not exactly a free internet source. The internet option will probably drive sales of suitable Dreamcast and PSX 2 games, actually.

Btw, the WWF hotel thing was a done deal a while ago. There was an auction last summer (I think) and McMahon was high bidder. I think the WWF is doing lots of things right in order to stay on top.

Mankind got off a great line about how he'll likely be retiring soon for physical reasons but he's not sure what to do for the rest of his life. He'd still be too young to join WCW. :)

<<<<Did anyone see the analysts comments just now(1:28 pm EST) on CNBC regarding THQ?

I only caught part of her comments, but she was not recommending the stock now at current prices. The Christmas is over so the stock is likely to have very limited price appreciation near-term. She also comment something to the effect that games on the internet will slice into game makers profits because people will be able to play them over the internet for free.

Any comments?>>>

I saw it also and I feel your tone is a little negative. I agree she said in some terms what you wrote but I think over all it was a positive plug for the long term investor. Thats what I want long term investors!!!

Also when would she ever recommend it? She is not an analyst who follows the stock. She also said more than once THQ is one of the better game companies out there. I guess everyone wants to wait for $25 before they begin to buy. Thats ok with me many will miss the first 5 point move.
