uncle,

I read a great article in Business Week on the the "Post PC World". I would recommend it to all. It talks about people not really demanding higher and higher processor speeds for their desktops. What we really desire are more specialized smaller appliances that fulfill a specific need, i.e., the Palm Pilot type device, a smaller niche type laptop, etc...

We sort of all know this, but it goes on to give many, many details, including how over half of the "new" internet adopters will not log on via a PC. They will use one of these appliances.

It also said that individuals currently only use 5% of a PC's processing power and capabilites. Do they really need or crave more? The article makes the point that 600/800 MHz CPU's may be needed in the corporate sector but not for the public...

I guess their point was that their is a major storm wreaking havoc on the Win/Tel dominated PC world. Don't know if this is good or bad for RMBS. I bring it up merely as discussion.

Also, it really made me think of DELL. Sure, PC sales will still grow, in the low double digits in their view, but not at the 30% rate in the early 90's. That is why I said to a poster a week ago, that going forward, the boxmakers are not the place to be. I do not see DELL maintaining a 50% growth rate...And that is why the stock has been getting punished

Regards,

MileHigh
