We retuned from Anguilla on Sunday. I will give a general impression first before I go into specifics. The medical staff treated my father extremely well. He was allowed to have his treatments at times that were flexable. The dialysis center was very busy with people
from Canada US and Italy. In addition to the travelling dialysis patient
there was three full time dialysis patients from the Islands.
The resort itself was very nice. Our room had been newly renovated
and had all new appliances. It was very comfortable with a full kitchen. I will come back to this.
The beach at the Resort was great. Lots of white sand. Very good reef for snorkling. The water is very clear.
The company is completeing lots of construction on the Resort.
I talked to Brent Platten who is the project manager and of course
a director of the Company . He was very knowledgable and gave
me a great tour of the Resort. Showed me what has been doneand what is expected to be completed over the next six months.
When it is all completed the Resort will be a tremendous asset to the Company.
During our time at the Resort the medical center was very busy
with many patients coming and going.
There are many other things to cover about the Resort and the people. It is to much to cover at once so I will come back to this aspect of the Company. Generally I was impressed.
The island itself is very nice. The people are very friendly.
Everyone speaks English
The restaurants are very very expensive. Quite frankly for what you get its not a great situation. In talking to Brent Platten we did even go to the really expensive restaurants. This is of course the reason for all the rooms having full kitchens. There were three markets on the island that had pretty well everything we wanted. Sometimes you had to be very early at the markets to get fresh baked bread. Brent indicated that one of the reasons that the Company is currently building a restaurant isbecause there needs to be a reasonably priced restaurant and of coarse the company has its own biult in clientelewith the dialysis patients. The restaurant will be Italian and the food will be prepared on the basis of a diabetic diet. I agree with him that it will be very busy. The Company also runs a diabetic clinic that was busy.
We went to several other beaches. They were very nice . One of the best places to go was Shoal Bay and to Uncle Ernies. Mr Talbots
kids who live down there with his wife took us to shoal Bay. They are and asset. One of the children was always available to play crib with my father.
An absolute must is to rent a car. Even though they drive on the wrong side of the road . It didn't take long to get used to driving although I kept looking the wrong way and on more than one occasion an Anguillan was patiently waiting for me to notice him as I turned after looking the wrong way. They are very used to that situation I would guest. Not one single rude comment, just a smile and a wave
I will stop here for tonight and continue tomorrow . There is lots more to say. The bottom line is that my father will be going back.
I will answer any questions that I can once I have finished.
By the way there is night life and that will be a separate episode.
