HOTEL DE HEALTH CARIBBEAN INC. ANNOUNCES RESORT, RENAL DIALYSIS UNIT AND NEW
HOSPITAL

THE VALLEY, Anguilla, May 30 /CNW/ - The Hon. Hubert B. Hughes,
Chief Minister of Anguilla and Mr. Robert J. Talbot, President, TRAC
INDUSTRIES INC. today announced the launch of Hotel de Health
Caribbean Inc., in a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the
Government of Anguilla, to operate a resort and world class medical
services on this beautiful island in the Caribbean. Anguilla is the
most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the West Indies, and is a
British dependency with full internal self-government.
Hotel de Health Caribbean Inc. introduces a totally new concept
to the Caribbean. This concept combines a first-class resort with a
world-class team of physicians and medical facilities located at the
resort. Hotel de Health Caribbean Inc. will allow individuals who are
presently limited in their ability to travel due to existing medical
conditions to do so, giving them new freedom to visit the Caribbean.
World-class physicians specializing in nephrology, cardiology,
pulmonology, diagnostic radiology and specialized elective surgery
will treat patients from around the world in a medical facility
designed and managed to meet Canadian medical standards followed by
convalescence on one of the most beautiful and peaceful islands in
the Caribbean. The resort and a renal dialysis unit will open in the
fall of this year.
Hotel de Health Caribbean Inc. will begin construction of a new
hospital in Anguilla this fall with completion scheduled for late
1997. The hospital will be a fully operational medical/surgical unit
including a second renal dialysis unit to serve both the clients of
the hospital and the local Caribbean population. The first phase of
the hospital will have twenty-five beds, operating rooms and all the
support services required to operate the hospital to Canadian
standards; there are provisions for expansion of the hospital up to
one hundred and fifty beds.
``We look forward to developing this new concept which caters to
a growing number of people around the world whose ability to travel
has been limited until now by their medical condition. Our tourism
and health facilities will be of the highest international
standards,'' said Mr. Talbot. ``We have found that the government of
Anguilla shares our enthusiasm because of the career prospects which
will be created for young Anguillans and because of the related
spin-offs which will benefit tourism and the overall economy of the
island.''
On behalf of the Government of Anguilla, the Honourable Hubert
Hughes, Chief Minister said ``We heartily endorse this project and
see many benefits to Anguilla in terms of job creation both in the
construction of the facilities and in their professional operation.
The economic benefits related to tourism and all the services which
cater to tourists will help to make Anguilla the centre for
healthcare in the Caribbean.''
TRAC Industries Inc., through its subsidiary Hotel de Health
Inc., has also agreed to open and operate offices in Edmonton,
Alberta and in Toronto, Ontario to promote tourism to the island of
Anguilla.
TRAC INDUSTRIES INC., through its subsidiary Hotel de Health,
contracts with physicians and other health care professionals to
provide uninsured, specialized health services to Canadian and
international clients. Patients are seen on a fee-for-service basis
paid for either by private medical insurers or themselves. The
physicians are expected to maintain full practices within the public
health care system of their jurisdiction while participating in this
service. TRAC INDUSTRIES INC. trades on the Canadian Dealer Network
(Toronto) under the symbol ``TRAC''.
