dsl may make the phone line world high speed internet access
i've forecasted these things before but my latest take is this, that in 2003 internet access may look like this:

phone lines: 70 million u.s. homes
cable lines: 15 million u.s. homes

you may see homes with both phone and cable internet, and possible even tailor-made content for each...i see cable internet wanting to deliver a more 'tv-like' viewing experience...and phone delivering more data-centric...and the phone itself become an integated communication center for email/fax/voice

for reference there's about 100 million u.s. households
