fooledalot: but management must PROVE that they can consistently execute the Plan--which, unfortunately, has not effectively occurred. Maybe they have not and never will prove it to sceptics, but they have proved it. The plan was to become the No. 1 PC manufacturer and they achieved that. The plan was to make DEC accretive by the end of the 4th quarter. They did that (and that was no mean feat). The plan was to convert COMPAQ from a PC maker into a multi-faceted IT company or Enterprise company and they have done that. The plan was to achieve $50 billion in revenues by 2000 and that is on track. I concede that it needs more time to gear up from third, into first and then into overdrive.
