I thought maybe it was a city. Have you seen Stewart Brand's 10,000 year time-keeping piece?

Dash is a name-maker. He's really good at it. He calls radios, vibraphonics. When he sees one in the yard, he points at it. "The Vibraphonic." Get out on a jobsite, and he says, "Set up the Vibraphonic." "Bring out the vibraphonic." He likes to point at them. So you get this feeling of it being a distinct, isolated thing. A special thing. He's right of course.

The more I look at them, the more they look like vibraphonics. Producing sound through vibration, of course, but also a radio wave vibration sensor. A compact mechanism for making the invisible audible. Hard to explain, but when he points at them, they look different.

Last year there were a cpl months they couldn't get enough work to keep going, and it's been nuts ever since. He's getting really tired, and he doesn't want any more work, so he keeps upping their bids and hoping people will pass (they have to bid, for PR) and only taking work the partners can do, and last night he says, "It doesn't matter what I charge. They won't leave me alone." He says they're making 3500.00 a week, each. That's a lot of money to run around and screw things. I'm way past jealous now. He says he's not having any fun, and I feel like biting him.

OK. All you pharmacological experts out there. I've got this nasty cold and sinus thing. Am I playing with fire if I take Extra Strength Robitussin for the cough, Advil Cold & Sinus for the congestion and Budweiser for my nerves?

It is snowing to beat the band here.
