The supposed examples are just window dressing for a predetermined conclusion.

Unfortunately Neocon, far too many people believe that Chomsky's style of analysis is entirely appropriate and fully accurate.

Maybe its the result of a breakdown in education curriculum where logical deduction becomes wrapped in biased passions and prejudgements.

The professsors who had the most impact on my education taught me to not to bias my analysis by looking for "demons" and conspiratorial plots behind every political event. Rather they emphasized trying to find the sources of political and financial power and how those power centers intertwined and conflicted with one another to result in economic, political, and military decisions. But most of all, I came to understand that these processes are not new, but are incorporated throughout our history.

So here we have folks like Cola and rrman railing against certain "powers that be" without acknowleging that our entire lives consist of personal politics at the macro and micro level. They seem to discount the fact that everyone has an agenda, but few have the absolute necessary to enact that agenda fully. The limitation of that power is what is both appealing and worrisome about democracies.
Overall their power base is consensual and not dictatorial. But on the other hand, when a rapid and assertive response has to be made, leadership lacks the power to act promptly.

Oh well... I'm rambling... Time for the morning cappucino.. :0)

Regards,

Ron
