Well,
DELL split again so I think that is in error..
But I think some of us, using price alone have seen stocks like AOL, WMT , CSCO , and DELL..not exactly undiscovered..long ago..
Best of luck..
Dick.

Herb,

One of the concerns I have about any mechanical shorting strategy is the possibility of being caught short in a KTEL or ENMD type situation. Sleepy little companies that become internet fads or discover a cure for cancer. Other recent examples, not quite as extreme are MALL, SATH, NAVR and AWRE.

Any thoughts on how to avoid the potentially disasterous losses? What is a logical way to set a reasonable stop loss point? Screening out low float situations would eliminate some of those situations, is that enough?

All this stuff is beyond me, like my mother often said "What does that have to do with the price of cotton?"

Andy's scan returns are in keeping with an attempt to maximize profits. Your returns look like they are there to justify your view of what should be but may not be. Your overconcern for Cap lessens the results. When all is said and done, a decision for entry and exit must be made. We are not back 6 months or a year ago but now. What determines entry/exit for you.

When do we buy? when do we sell? If I had my choice, I would go with andy's list for results. I would seek entry/exit based on a system that I trusted not to hurt me with a 10% safety valve.

I keep waiting for a funnymental scan that provides an exact entry/exit that shows outstanding results. The measurement of price movement and direction tells all. It reflects your 56 variables and more. I don't like to trade any stock with a float above 50M. I look at it as a supply and demand function with more effect on price then the Buffet type of game.
