This is the background info that was posted about Matech and SIMS forming Millenium Bridge. millenium Bridge mayhave been the original name for Antaeus. This information was posted on this thread once before, but I wasn't sure when and this was just as easy to produce. It can be seen that Matech is no stranger to receiving government money, landing a $2.5 million grant from the US Airforce of which their share was %550,000. With governement spending close to $ 9 Billion last year trying to improve the integrity of corroding bridges and in some cases replacing them entirely, it isn't to much of a stretch to believe that Antaeus can land a few contracts and buy a million dollars worth of sensors from DCH in the process. DCH has posted on their website that Antaeus is a customer. It would seem that the DCH sensor came very well timed for Matech.dch-technology.com Who is Antaeus and what can you tell us about bridge monitoring? Antaeus Corporation is a joint venture of several established companies. Their website is under construction and will be linked to the DCH website upon its completion. As metals corrode, atomic hydrogen migrates through the metal and combines in the air surrounding the metal to make molecular hydrogen. The amount of hydrogen emanating form the metal can be indicative of corrosion occurring inside the metal. As bridges age, internal corrosion becomes a concern. One reason the Antaeus joint venture was created was to address this concern. DCH was selected to provide hydrogen sensors for Antaeus' Pulse(TM) product (see press release dated February 17, 1999). What is DCH's relationship with Antaeus? Antaeus is a customer of DCH. ragingbull.com By: Kknightmcc Reply To: None Saturday, 6 Mar 1999 at 10:33 AM EST Post # of 3064 The roots of the Antaeus partnership: From the MATERIAL TECHNOLOGIES INC /CA/ Form: 10-K/A Filing Date: 3/25/98 STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY MONITORING SYSTEMS The Company has entered into a strategic alliance with Structural Integrity Monitoring Systems ('SIMS') of Willimantic, Connecticut. The company and SIMS are in the final stages of planning to obtain government funding to develop and demonstrate a bridge monitoring systems. The Company and SIMS have formed a Delaware corporation, Millennium Bridge Monitoring, Inc. The Company and SIMS will each own 50% of Milllennium Bridge and will each license its technology to that Company. Millennium Bridge will then apply for federal government funds for development and a demonstration project. From the same filing a bit of information on the funding: In August 1996, Matech entered into a teaming agreement with SWRI, San Antonio, Texas (a non-profit research facility) and the University of Pennsylvania. On February 25, 1997 the team was awarded a $2.5 million Phase I contract to "determine the feasibility of the EFS to improve the United States Air Force capability to perform durability assessments of military aircraft, including both air frames and engines through the application of the EFS to specific military aircraft alloys." Matech's share of this award is approximately $550,000. Sufficient interest has been generated by the military and the Pentagon and Congress has appropriated an additional $5,000,000 for further development related to the EFS technology. The contracting process for the additional funding has begun. The Company anticipates that process will take two to three months from the date of this filing.
