Thanks, it is the C: drive a WDC unit made in 1997.. Repetetive click click click until the timout stops sending command for boot sectors. Tried rapping it with the butt of a screwdriver while it was clicking but no change. Will look inside next.. which will void warrantee of course. I have my collection of over 1800 bookmarkes, first half of a novel, some business. Not a good day, may have to send it to a data recovery business.
