John -
Interesting that you mention laptops. I have said many times that CPQ's last good laptop was the 486-based LTE back in 1994. I still have one and it still works fine. I had a terrible experience with a 5000 series, almost as bad with a 7400. I finally gave up and got a DEC HiNote 2000 which is a great laptop. I looked at the thinkpad also, but the HiNote had a bigger screen and the "feel" was just better. That is now rebranded as the Armada 6500. I understand that DEC's laptop team will be pretty much taking over laptop design for the next generation, so maybe we will see some innovative stuff.

CPQ has had a "transformer" style notebook for about a year and a half - it is a notebook which attaches to a subsystem to become a full fledged laptop. I looked at one but didn't want the smaller display - I really like the 14.3 inch. I have not looked at the CPQ product in about a year but I expect it is a lot like the thinkpad - the only difference I could see off the top was the processor speed but that is really just whatever Intel has got going in the low power line at the moment, last quarter it was 300MHz.
