Hi Bob, I have a bunch of software programs.... most of which I don't use that much. I do have Metastock, but haven't really played with its testing/programming capabilities to be honest. Most of my experience in system testing/building comes from using Tradestation 3.5... and 4.0. My senior year of high school, and freshman year in college... I did a lot of programming and testing, which paid off for me, in spades, down the road. Nonetheless, I have since switched to a more discretionary trading approach.... although I do trade a very small amount on a neural net system using index options.... on a model that I helped to develop with a friend. Beside that, I'll track a few systems I like... but I am not a systems trader... anymore. Maybe I will be again someday.... I dunno. I wouldn't say my understanding is that thorough... I'm just relying on a few nuggets I picked up from the back testing process. In fact, things may well have changed a lot since I did the bulk of my work. To some extent, I have been lazy about re-testing some of this stuff.... to see if indeed it's still worth following. My guess is not too much has changed, but you never know. If anything, I would be better served to be programming now... since I feel my sense of risk management is much better than it was then... and, imo, that has more of a direct impact on the bottom line, than the actual method. Oh well, enough rambling from me for now, besides, I'm sure there are others here who are much more experienced than me when it comes to testing this stuff. Maybe they can add a thing or two in here. Talk to you later Regards, Frank
