Hi Mephisto- StarOffice 5.0 is actually free with community license (free) Solaris. WordPerfect8 is a free Linux download. I understand that the upcoming WP 2000 will do 'Word(tm)' read/write much better. One needn't pay $50 for Linux. The same RH5.2 Linux with Installation book can be had for less than $20 several places (lsl.com, and cheapbytes.com come to mind) Without hardcopy docs, Linux on CD is as cheap as $1.89. Costco has the Macmillian shrinkwrapped box w/ (excellent) book for $29. Unlike Windows, you don't sign an 'end user license agreement' which says you can't do anything that Microsoft doesn't want 'end users' to do without possibility of having your (their) OS license revoked. In the business context, it means that one doesn't rent Windows license type seats. That $20 or $50 Linux OS (and cardre of free software) can be installed legally on any number of machines, freely. -JCJ
