Federated Investors technology expert expect to see some slowdown of PC sales near the end of the year due to Y2K - but thinks Dell will do well. His main concerns are with Compaq. FWIW his comments are at audioinvestor.com - he likes AOL and Doubleclick also

dell and it's sub 1k computer how come more publicity has not been given to dell regarding their entry in the sub 1k market. they have been advertising for 2 or 3 weeks in the investors business daily a $999.00 computer with speakers and monitor. i figured this would atleast generate some positive comments on si, but have not seen much mentioned. hoping for a post split rally this week. lets see 50.

Looks like the DELL and IBM alliance may be inching closer to reality. Just imagine the possibilities. BTW, I just became a member of SI although I have been following this dialogue since earnings were announced. Thanks to all of you for the calming words and making me see the value of holding DELL forever. This is the best thread around. Of course only for those who are LONG DELL.
