Well; the Protestants use the same thinking about the Holy Spirit; but they set themselves up as the Pope or a Saint at least and say they have had all these truths revealed to them and they KNOW certain things without doubt; they are unerring. The become armchaim Popes essentially. Actually; you have helped me understand how absurd this is. It is helpful to understand that in older churches; so proclaimations would be overstepping one's relatiionship with the Holy Spirit. I do believe the Protestant's that a direct relationship with God and the Holy Spirit is possible, but I don't think it is something that is easy to accomplish and much error can be had in developing a consciousness of that relationship. Consciousness; ut oh; a New Age term.
