Ken -

It's typical of you to exaggerate the Iomega bulls' positions and then mock them for saying things they haven't said.

I don't recall anyone here ever saying Iomega's products are perfect.

I do know that most drive manufacturers do not suggest that you turn Write Verify on. I also know that most manufacturers don't offer speed specifications based on Write Verify being off, while recommending that you turn it on.

Meanwhile, Click of Death has been acknowledged by Iomega and by the bulls on this thread, and the problem appears to have been solved outright or at least greatly reduced in incidence in the past year.

PS: I notice you haven't had a problem with Rocky's fulsome praise of Orb as being superior to Jaz in every way, when he has never actually used one.

Duh...

I'm shopping for a large removable drive. My options are either Iomega Jaz or Castlewood ORB. Let's see, according to:

cc-inc.com

The SCSI Jaz2 is a costly $349 and each Jaz2 disk costs a whopping $124!

cc-inc.com

The SCSI Castlewood ORB , on the other hand, costs only $199 and each ORB disk costs only $29, is faster than Jaz, has a smaller form factor, and has a larger capacity to boot!

You can buy over FOUR ORB carts for every ONE Jaz2, plus the ORB disk capacity is larger than Jaz.

Which one am I going to buy? ...DUH!!!

Gee, Ken. Excuse us all to pieces for actually examining the competitors product. Please pardon a discussion on technological facts. I'm hardly an Iomega bull but I am very interested in storage products.
