3dfx is about to spend $20 million on advertising:

The timing with the launch of the Voodoo3 and OEMs about to make final decisions on videocards is good. However, this will burn a lot of cash and make Q1 look bad as $20 million of advertising expense falls to the bottom line. I seem to remember Iomega doing something similar and not having great results in the end.
