eFax.com to provide XOOM.com's Members With Free Fax-to-Email Service,
>

Can someone answer something about the EFAX business plan for me. EFAX gives everyone a free fax number and makes its money by selling advertising that somehow comes across with the faxes. As has been pointed out here, they need to pay someone for each of the fax lines. But it would seem to me that while many may apply for the service, only a portion of those will actually use it regularly. Some may get their line (for which EFAX will pay) and never use it. So how are they going to ever make a profit?

I'm sure there is something I'm missing here. Can anyone help?

The way I see it, if EFAX has some kind of special technology that is not widely available, then they should be able to sell the service (or the company) to one or more of the baby bells who will offer the service to their customers for a suitable fee. Of course, if the the technology is not that special, then there will be a lot of competition soon.
