Dear Paul: You know I find all this talk about slowing or not slowing because of Y2K rather funny. I cant speak for the mom and pop shops but the clients I dealt with (large Corporations) have a plan in place often spanning years. The budget annually but the ground rules are already in place. They DO NOT make major capital expansions on a whim or react to immediate ups and downs of the day. And, as to the IS departments, hell they will take anything they can get and spend as fast as they can before someone takes it away from them--haha. Have you EVER met an IS guy who didnt want the latest TOY? JDN

Thanks Paul,

<< Some may slow purchases and some may ACCELERATE purchases >>

Do you think it will favor the latter? I am a little confused, and forgive my ignorance, on why a company that may need NEW PCs would hold off getting them, considering the NEW PCs wouldn't be the problem (I'm assuming legacy software/hardware would be?), just an addition?

thanks for any thoughts
