Morgy,

We don't need to digress into a discussion on how E-Commerce is going to alter the shape of our economy forever, causing many previously successful retailing outfits to go belly up.

Even though many internet companies are hyper-expensive, if they are able to create a global brand name that causes people to think of Amazon.com when they think about buying a book (or anything else), they could eventually be the equivalent of a global Sears-Roebuck.

And part of that branding process is tied to the success of their stock. They have a high capitalization because they have a think float of stock and high demand for it.

Proprietary is not always necessary for success.

What proprietary concept do Kmart or Walmart possess? Very little except a brand name that causes consumers to visit one instead of the other. So it will be with some of these internet companies.

Regards,

Ron
