(Nasdaq:INKT - news), developer of scalable Internet infrastructure software, today announced support from a broad range of leading Internet companies for its online shopping platform, the Inktomi Shopping Engine. Fifteen portals and over 300 leading online merchants have signed agreements to work with Inktomi on the buildout of its powerful commerce services.
Leading portal and destination sites including Infoseek, operator of GO Network, CNET and NBC's Snap, CNNfn, Delphi Forums, FamilyEducation Network, Fox Sports Online, FreeShop, GeoCities, iSleuth.com, LookSmart, PeopleWeb, Softnet's ISP Channel, TV Guide Online, W3 Networks, and ZDNet have signed agreements to incorporate the Inktomi shopping platform into their sites. A number of Inktomi partners are already running ''Preview Release'' versions of the product search functionality on their sites, and plan to incorporate new capabilities as they are introduced over the coming months.

The Inktomi Shopping Engine, scheduled for full availability next quarter, provides Internet shoppers with fast search access to over one million products across the Web. The Inktomi Shopping Engine is designed to provide a platform for portals and destination sites to deliver end-to-end shopping services including product and price comparison shopping, feature comparisons and research, and expert recommendations. All of these services can be tightly integrated with content and Web searching functionality throughout a site.
In addition, over 300 of the Web's most prominent merchants have signed agreements to incorporate their products into the Inktomi Shopping Engine. The current database of over one million products spans 14 categories including Apparel & Jewelry, Books & Magazines, Computer/Video Games, Computer Hardware, Computer Software, Consumer Electronics, Flowers & Cards, Gifts, Home & Garden, Movies & Videos, Music, Office Supplies, Sporting Goods, and Toys & Games.
