Caxton, the first time in 10,000 posts I may actually have an answer to a semi-technical question--yaaaaaaaaaay!

CLEC--Competitive Local Exchange Carrier

which presumably means the telcos who provide service for local and in-state long distance calls, but who do not (yet) provide long, long distance.

Bracing for 32 replies telling me that I screwed up. Best, Mike

Carlton - Everybody asks that question - CLEC is Competitive Local Exchange Carrier. ILEC is Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier.
